Both local and international students will be admitted at Entrance Level provided they have achieved the following:

Numeracy: Group 5 any option

Literacy: English as Group 1 option

General Subjects: The diploma must have been completed (24 points minimum) before admission at entrance level may be granted.

University Entrance from International Baccalaureate
If you are applying for admission to The University of Auckland in 2009 based on the International Baccalaureate, you will be required to meet the following University Entrance Standards, as established by the New Zealand Vice-Chancellors' Committee (NZVCC).

The University Entrance Standard
You will be qualified for entrance to a New Zealand university in 2009 if you have been awarded the full International Baccalaureate Diploma (24 points minimum).

To be admitted to The University of Auckland you must gain the University Entrance Standard and be selected into a programme.

Applicants will be ranked according to their IB score and selected according to the number of places available.

Please note there are additional requirements such as a portfolio, an audition or an interview, for entrance to some qualifications - see the Other requirements column in the table on Entry in 2009 from the International Baccalaureate on the main University of Auckland website.

The minimum requirement for admission to the University of Canterbury at entrance level is the IB diploma (minimum of 24 points).
Candidates who pass either English HL or SL (group 1 first language) or English HL (group 2 second language) with a minimum of 4 points will be exempted the normal English language test requirement.
For some courses, appropriate background learning may be required, e.g. for Engineering, Mathematics HL, Physics and Chemistry.
Candidates with excellent grades may be exempted the requirements for admission to second level courses at the discretion of academic departments.

International students are required to have completed the IB Diploma with a minimum overall score of 24 points before being eligible to apply for admission. Please note that some programmes of study may require a higher overall score to be achieved.
